Grief and Loss Counselling

Understanding Grief

Grief is a deeply personal experience and affects each person differently. For some people it brings sadness and longing. For others it may appear as anger, numbness, anxiety, or a sense of disorientation.

Grief is not limited to the loss of a loved one. People may also experience grief when facing major life changes, health challenges, the end of a relationship, or changes to identity and purpose.

Because grief affects emotional, physical, and mental wellbeing, many people benefit from having a safe and supportive place to speak openly about their experiences.

Counselling can help create that space.

How Counseling Can Help

Counselling can support you through the grieving process by providing:

  • A safe and confidential space to talk about your loss
  • Compassionate support while processing difficult emotions
  • Understanding of the emotional impact of grief
  • Practical strategies for coping with overwhelming moments
  • Support as you gradually adjust to life after loss

There is no timeline for grief. Counselling focuses on supporting you wherever you are in your journey.

Cynthia's Approach

Cynthia provides a warm and respectful environment where individuals can explore grief without pressure or judgement.

Her approach is person-centred, meaning that counselling moves at a pace that feels right for you. Rather than trying to rush the grieving process, the focus is on understanding your experience, acknowledging your emotions, and helping you find ways to move forward while honouring the significance of your loss.

Many people find that having a consistent and supportive space to talk can help bring clarity, relief, and a greater sense of emotional balance.

When People Seek Grief Counselling

People may seek grief counselling for many reasons, including:

  • The loss of a loved one
  • Anticipatory grief during illness
  • The end of a significant relationship
  • Loss connected to major life changes
  • Feeling stuck in the grieving process
  • Ongoing sadness or emotional exhaustion after loss

Whatever the circumstances, counselling offers a supportive space to explore your experience and begin to make sense of what you are going through.

Taking the First Step

Reaching out for support can feel like a big step, especially during times of grief. You do not have to face these experiences alone.

Cynthia provides a compassionate and confidential space where you can speak openly about your loss and begin to find ways to move forward with support.
